Portal da Propaganda www.portaldapropaganda.comUntil now the Brazilian participation in the Cannes Festival’s original area isn’t unlike last year. We have subscribed the same amount of pieces (175) and achieved one less chance of Lions for this year. Actually they are 15 from 2008 (against 12 from 2007), although there are 11 campaigns with possibilities of Lions, since Leo Burnett placed five films among the finalists – all of them for Lancefinal Online Marketplace’s campaign.
Besides Leo, figuring in the list are DM9DDB, with three pieces, for Terra, WWF and Cia. Athletica; AlmapBBDO, with two pieces, for Boticário and Casa do Zezinho; and F/Nazca S&S, also with two, for PlayTV and Unimed; and Santa Clara, third agency with two films, for Fila and Ipas Brasil; and Publicis Brasil, that appears with one work for Mackenzie.
The producing houses with the most works in the shortlist are Lux Films and CinemaCentro, with two. Zeppelin has five, but all of them within the same campaign for Leo Burnett. Also featured are Conspiração Filmes, Pix Post, O2, Tribbo Post, Produtora de Cinema e Filmes Associados and Publicis Brasil, which was responsible for their own announcement production.
Almost one third of the films that are competing for Lions are form the USA. Out if 609 films in the shortlist, 207 are Americans, who subscribed 1.198 – leading United Kingdom (381), Japan (243), Germany (213), France (188) and Brazil (175).
In the quest for Lions, behind USA are also the United Kingdom, with 78 pieces, Canada, with 35; Argentina, with 33; Spain, with 30; France, with 25; Australia and Netherlands, with19; And Germany, with 17. Brazil is in the tenth position, with the 15 above mentioned pieces.
4.626 is this Film Lions edition’s number of subscribed pieces, 3,4% more than last year, when 4.474 films were judged. This fact is due to, in its majority, the newly incorporated categories in 2008, that focus on films created for other Medias besides TV and Cinema. They are: Internet Film, Other Screens, Integrated Film and Interactive TV.
Last year we’ve conquered two Bronze Lions in the área: “Transformer Boxes”, by DM9DDB for Luft Logística; and "In a man’s life", by Santa Clara to the Discovery Channel.
