For the first time in the Cannes Festival history, the Film Lions judging committee have granted two GPs. It has also been the first time that announcements for other Medias, such as the internet, have had a category of their own. One of the favorites for the GP, “Gorilla”, by Fallon London for Cadbury‘s chocolate Dairy Milk, ended up with the maximum award.

T.A.G San Francisco (part of the McCann Group) seduced all the delegates and judges who have watched in the Palais des Festivals the internet pieces for Microsoft’s Xbox game “Halo 3”. The campaign was awarded with the other GP in Film, besides having also received the Grand Prix in Titanium & Integrated.

A total of 21 Gold Lions were granted, together with 34 Silver and 32 Bronze. As usual, the United States walked big steps in the 2008 edition. Besides the GP they’ve conquered 12 Gold Lions, 10 Silver, 16 Bronze and 168 Finalists, totaling 360 points. The United Kingdom is the second country in the area, with one GP, four Gold Lions, six Silver, nine Bronze and 58 Finalists (153 points).

Argentina has had a great performance, once more, conquering two Gold Lions, one Silver, three Bronze and 27 Finalists, summing up to 55 points which gave the country the third place in Film.

The fourth position was taken by Spain, with 44 points (three Silver, one Bronze and 26 Finalists); followed by Canada, with 43 points (one Silver, one two Bronze and 32 Finalists); France, with 39 (one Silver, five Bronze and 19 Finalists); Australia, with 33 (one Gold, one Silver, two Bronze and 15 Finalists).

Brazil ended up in the eight position (against last year’s 12th position), with 29 points (three Silver, one Bronze and 11 Finalists).
