Portal da Propaganda www.portaldapropaganda.comOut of 1.126 pieces registered in the Design area – a rather high number if we consider that this is a new area in the festival –, 120 works were classified to the shortlist, five of which are Brazilian, being 48 pieces the total registered by Brazil.
As a reflex of the investments made in this area, Germany featured 29 works within the finalists, as they held also the highest registration number (154). India, third biggest competitor in this area, is second in the shortlist, with 13 pieces (out of 134 registrations); followed by the US, with 11 (139 registered); United Kingdom and Canada with nine works each. In sequence there are South Africa (8); Japan and Brazil (5); Australia (4); Malaysia, China, Netherlands, Spain and Sweden (2); and Croatia, Denmark, Slovenia, Philippines, France, Russia, Kosovo and Thailand all with one finalist each.
Four out of five Brazilian pieces were created by so-called traditional advertisement agencies, and the country has chances of winning only four Lions, as Leo Burnett appears twice with the same campaign: “Origami” and “promotional Flyer”, for the Akatu Institute. F/Nazca S&S is represented by the piece “Cigarettes kill more", for Unimed; while Master Comunicação is represented by “Couple Therapy”, to therapist Marisa Schmidt; Yet, Indústria Nacional e Diálogo Design is in the shortlist with "Ready Salad", created to Hortifruti.
Our Brazilian representative in the Design judging committee is Fred Gelli, partner creative director of Tátil Design.
